A former director at Galena Biopharma, Mark W. Schwartz has since moved on to the position of director at Targazyme in San Diego, and a senior executive position at Theracaine in Palo Alto, California. Mark W. Schwartz holds a PhD in biochemistry from Arizona State University and teaches biology, business, and entrepreneurship at San Jose State University (SJSU), which recently launched the Innovation Design Collaborative.

On June 8, 2018, SJSU launched its Innovation Design Collaborative, a unique program that got its start a few years ago when representatives from the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering met with industry partners to talk about how SJSU could ensure students were more prepared for the workforce. Eventually, the group included over 30 stakeholders from across the university and multiple members of industry.
Located in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, the Innovation Design Collaborative allows students and faculty to share a space to discuss innovative ideas and broaden their perspectives on what it takes to successfully design products for launch. During the inauguration of the space, teams of students from multiple colleges at SJSU presented products they are preparing for market launch or for competitions.
